THE Alaska Aces finally scored one against the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala, 87-75, in the second of their two-game exhibition matches at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Memorial Sports Coliseum in Bogo City last Saturday.

With the Aces playing exceptionally well, the Niños fell under the spell as Alaska worked on their height advantage to beat the Niños for the first time in three games.

The loss of their flashy guard Woodrow Enriquez, who is still at the hospital recovering from the injury last Friday, was also a factor in the game.

Enriquez underwent surgery last Saturday to relieve the pressure from the spinal column.

“As of now Woodrow is recovering from his injury. Several procedures were performed to ascertain the severity of his injury. We are not rushing the recovery process. He is being attended to by a very competent medical personnel and the whole team, including the team management which have extended, their all-out support,” M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala team trainer Pio Solon told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

Enriquez will be subjected to more tests in the coming days to know if he can still play basketball.

Enriquez played a major role in the Niños first two wins against the Aces, 75-55, last September and, 88-87 , last Friday.

It was during that Friday’s win that Enriquez got injured and without the former Cebu Doctors University Stallion standout, the Niños lost as they were one flashy guard short against the taller Aces.
