ONE need not go to Austria to experience authentic Viennese and Austrian dishes.
Here in Cebu, the Vienna Kaffeehaus brings the tradition of authentic Vienna dining.
“Vienna Kaffeehaus is a restaurant and coffee house that adopts the coffee bar concept,” said Raymond Basubas, general manager of Phil-Euro Kondetorei, the mother corporation of Vienna.

Recently, Vienna Kaffeehaus opened its newest branch at the ground floor of the Orchard Hotel and Suites, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City.
Its other branches are located at the Pedro Calomarde St., corner Gorordo Avenue, and the ground floor of the Ford’s Inn Hotel, A.S. Fortuna St., corner Banilad Road, Cebu City.
In April 2009, the family of Raymond Basubas bought the trade name of Vienna Kaffeehaus from the Austrian owner, Kurt Schnabel.
Upgrades
With its 25 years of experience in business since its establishment in December 19, 1983, the newly-owned Vienna Kaffeehaus upgrades its concept at the same time keeps its original Viennese and Austrian specialties such as Backhendl, Kranier, Gulasch for main dishes, and the scrumptious pastries that perfectly go with them.
It retains its unique European ambiance and delectable dishes developed and made from the finest choice ingredients which it has always been known for.
It offers Austrian gourmet coffee in 11 brewed varieties such as the Malange, Espresso, Mocca, Cappucino, Decaf, Irish coffee, Filter, Milk and Flavored Coffee, Original Vienna Eiscoffee and Cafeccino.
“Our brewed coffee is an original house-blend and its ingredients are imported from Austria,” he explained.
According to Basubas, Vienna Kaffeehaus is a cafe where people can meet and do business.
With personalized service and extended store operating hours from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight, Vienna Kaffeehaus answers the need for a business cafe that attracts a regular customer base particularly the businessmen and young professionals.
Plans for expansion
“We plan to open seven more branches within the year,” Basubas revealed. An upcoming branch will open up in May at Mactan.
Under new owners and management, Vienna Kaffeehaus will be launching its new coffee concept this April and new items on the menu this May.
Aside from the coffee tables, the new Vienna Kaffeehaus in Mandaue also has a function room that has a 25-person capacity and a reading corner where coffee-lovers could read news while enjoying the delights Vienna has to offer.
