Bantayan to host 9th Sportscapade

BANTAYAN Island will host the 9th Island Sportscapade from March 31 to April 2 at the Mac’s Hide Away Beach in Sta. Fe.

“We have a different sporting event each day,” Sugbu Triathlon officer Ralph Arche said.

The triathlon event, which will have two categories, will be on March 31.

In the standard division, the racers will cover a 1.5 kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run. In the sprint division, racers will only go through a 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run. Registration is P350.

In the seconday day, the group will be holding the duathlon—a 2.5K run, 20K bike and 2K run.

The Oceanman will be held on April 2 and will have athletes running and swimming four 200-meter laps.

“We have been organizing this race under coach Benjoe Jimenez for the past nine years because we know that a lot of people go to Bantayan Island during this week and we want to grab this opportunity,” Arche said.
