The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has a big tax collection shortfall, prompting Commissioner Sixto Esquivias to resign saying it was the “honorable thing to do.”
A friend suggested the BIR should also issue a revenue regulation requiring all tax collectors to remit all the taxes they collected to the government.

Election Commissioner Gregorio “Goyo” Larrazabal said the BIR could not tax campaign donors unless the election law that exempted contributions from any form of tax
was amended.
But come to think of it, this tax is truly democratic because winners and losers are taxed alike.

Former congressman Romeo Jalosjos has asked President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to grant him absolute pardon so he can run for public office again 12 years after he was convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl.
If the President grants him absolute pardon, we’ll have at least two ex-cons running for public office next year-–Jalosjos and ex-president Joseph Estrada.

Barangay Apas residents cried in joy, reports said, after getting Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia’s assurance they will be allowed to stay in the barangay.
They won’t be sleepless anymore at the thought of becoming homeless.
Gov. Gwen has vowed to finish her term as governor and said he won’t run for vice president.
So Apas folks, maybe she’ll still be around to keep her promises.
