Basic Graphics gets ISO certification

BASIC Graphics Inc. (BGI), a Cebu homegrown printing company, gets ISO 12647-2 full certification in both pre-press and sheet-fed offset press.

It is the one and only fully ISO-certified outside Metro Manila, the third one in the country and one among 20 ISO certified printing companies in Asia.

“This modest achievement is a testament that Cebuanos can do it,” said BGI chief executive officer Edmun Liu.

Liu shared it has been told repeatedly that Filipinos/Cebuanos “are not good enough.” This stamp of approval, he said, will put the debate to rest.

“This ISO certification means we can be as good as the best in Asia can.”

ISO 12647-2

Frits Beurskens, president of Asian Printmedia Consultancy Group Inc., explained that the ISO 12647-2 is a very specific ISO certification that focuses on the procedures and quality standards. It covers the whole production process from the moment the digital files are delivered to the printing company up to the printed product.

This further certifies that every output BGI produces is of unmatched quality.

The ISO certification is good for two years and BGI will undergo re-accreditation to maintain the standards.

Aside from clients all over the country, BGI is also printing for a lot of international companies.

BGI, whose mission is to bring world-class quality printing to the Philippine shores, is now entering its 14th year in the industry.

Continuously seeking for excellence, BGI has invested at least P100 million already for technologically-advanced equipment.
Liu also said that they also allot a substantial amount for their employees’ trainings each year.
