Beermen drains Coke dry, 107-89

SAN Miguel Beer cruised to their seventh straight win after upending the Coca-Cola Tigers, 107-89, at the Cebu Coliseum last night.

Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiverso had 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Beermen took a share of the No. 1 spot with the Alaska Aces.

Coca-Cola is still second to the last with a woeful 1-6 card.

Meanwhile, the Alaska Aces hope to sustain their winning form as they face a strong challenge from Purefoods in the 35th PBA-KFC Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum today.

Fresh from their 110-106 triumph over Talk ‘N Text, the Aces expected to be in high spirits, while the Giants need a sturdy defense to win their 6:30 p.m. encounter.

Sta. Lucia likewise is highly-favored over Barako Bull in the 4 p.m. opening match.

The Aces needed a tough stand in the crucial stretch before escaping with the victory over the Tropang Texters.

“There is no doubt that Talk ‘N Text has a champion’s character. We just defeated the defending champion. But it was a very hard game for us because they were able to solve our defense,” said Alaska’s Tim Cone.
