The Pot Bellied Pigs Club, a rugby club based in Hong Kong, is now on its seventh year of organizing this tournament that aims to develop rugby in the Philippines.
The event is also a fundraising event for the Bahay Bata orphanage, a group that provides assistance to less fortunate kids.
Lester Loma, a pro-rugger joining the event for the third time, said joining the event will enhance the performance of Cebuano teams and the players will keep on getting better.
The veteran players of Cebu Dragons will be led by team captain Jerry Branzuela while the rookie team, Komodo Dragons, will be under team captain Chenzo Flor.
“I’m excited but I don’t know what to expect. I just wanted to perform at my best and as much as possible avoid injuries,” said Robinson Raymundo, the youngest player of the team.
The Cebu Dragons are grouped with the defending champion, Manila Nomads.
“They have experience and have bigger players. It will be hard but we love a challenge,” Branzuela said.
