Hop-on/hop-off tours among ideas Business Month will explore: CCCI

WITH less than two months to go, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry is gearing up for Cebu Business Month 2011.

This year, the activity is themed, “Business Beyond Boundaries,” which is meant to continue the momentum Cebu experienced the previous year.

According to CCCI, the Cebu Business Month 2011 will culminate the previous year’s events, follow up on support activities and celebrate successes in business by recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs, institutions and organizations.

The activity hopes to create more support programs for the key industries of tourism, information and communication technology and business process outsourcing and for micro, small and medium enterprises.

For tourism, the program hopes to encourage multi-stakeholder participation with an awareness campaign. It also hopes to commercialize new tourism concepts such as the hop-on/hop-off bus tour, sunset cruises and eco-tours.

Support activities

The organizers want to develop downstream, tourism-related business opportunities in the areas of medical tourism, retirement havens and other micro-tourism enterprises.

As for ICT and BPO, a committee has been tasked to organize events to support the growth of the industry in terms of infrastructure and human capital.

To promote entrepreneurship, the organizers will continue its programs such as the Meet the Business Icons and Trails of Success, which features entrepreneurs’ rags-to-riches stories.

Discussions will have topics encouraging business breakthroughs like commercializing intellectual property, advocating environmentally sustainable business practices and energy and water conservation.

These will also touch on multiplying business via franchising, going national and global, and pursuing growth via joint ventures and partnerships.
