SMART Communications, Inc. (Smart) and “unli” services pioneer Sun Cellular (Sun) have introduced SmartSun Dual Plan 549, which the two companies described as “the biggest and only postpaid offering that comes with unlimited texting to over 65 million mobile subscribers.”

A combination of two new postpaid plans from both networks, SmartSun Dual Plan 549 comes with unlimited Smart-to-Smart and Sun-to-Sun text messaging, six hours of free voice calls and a Nokia C2-03 dual SIM smartphone.

According to Smart chief wireless advisor and Sun Cellular president and CEO Orlando Vea, SmartSun Dual Plan 549 is only “the first of the many other groundbreaking services which are in store from the new no. 1 in postpaid.”

“When we joined forces with Sun, we promised that we will not put an end to their ‘unli’ services,” said Vea. “This unli-believable plan proves that we are in fact innovating on their offerings in order to bring nothing but the best to our combined subscriber bases,” he said.

Smart and Digitel Mobile Philippines, Inc. (Sun Cellular) are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT).

With its combined wireless networks, Smart and Sun boast of the widest cellular coverage in the Philippines, the companies said in a press statement.

“With numerous base stations located across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, we can easily improve our presence wherever and whenever it is needed,” said PLDT Technology Group Head Rolando G. Pena. “We no longer have to lease additional areas or build more cell sites just to improve our coverage,” he added.

“Just as the Nokia C2-03 gives you the power of 2 networks in the palm of your hands, it also offers two modes of input. You can choose between using the 240 x 320-pixel touchscreen for a smartphone-like experience or the sturdy alphanumeric keypad for the conventional calling and texting,” the companies said.

The Nokia C2-03 also comes standard with a microSD slot that can accommodate up to 32GBs of memory, a two-megapixel camera with video recording, and other extras such as an FM radio and voice recording. (PR)
