SOME 200 delegates from various sectors are expected to join discussions in this year’s Philippine Energy Efficiency Forum (PEEF)-Cebu organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP).
Today’s one-day forum and exhibition at the Radisson Blue Hotel Cebu is also targeting 30 booths to showcase energy-efficient technologies and solutions.
According to the ECCP, the forum will gather business leaders, energy experts and policy makers to share insights and identify the key drivers for energy efficiency within the electric power sector value chain: generation grids, commercial, residential and industrial use of electricity.
Theme
ECCP said PEEF’s central theme this year aims to address the challenges of energy security and climate change through energy savings and de-carbonization of electricity supply.
The forum also hopes to further increase awareness of Cebuanos about energy efficiency as well as encourage businesses to adopt energy-efficient measures.
The PEEF will discuss topics on energy-efficient technologies, energy policies and consumer education that need to be integrated across the electric power sector value chain to improve energy security, enhance global competitiveness, and accelerate economic growth.
The PEEF Cebu event will highlight four plenary sessions that will cover topics such as efficient lighting in workplaces, making buildings energy-efficient, increasing uptake of financing energy-efficiency projects, and the use of natural gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Speakers
ECCP has tapped Department of Energy Undersecretary Loreta Ayson, project director of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project, as the event’s keynote speaker.
Other speakers include Jesse Ang, resident representative of Philippine International Finance Corp.; Philippe Reveilhac, country president of Schneider Electric (Philippines) Inc.; Edgar Chua, country chairman of Shell Companies in the Philippines, Guam, Palau and Saipan; and Dagino Mendoza, senior manager for Country Business Development, ABB Inc. in the Philippines.
