ORGANIZERS of this year’s Mandaue Business Month (MBM) lined-up events that they said would encourage entrepreneurs to “stay ahead of the game.”

MBM chairperson Girlie Garces said on Monday that the theme “Staying Ahead of the Game” will inspire entrepreneurs to make roadmaps for their businesses.

The month-long activity, which starts today, aims to strengthen further the entrepreneurial capabilities of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and promote Mandaue City as an ideal business destination.

The highlights of this year’s MBM are the One Cebu Business and Sustainability Summit on Aug. 9 at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) and the Choose Mandaue: An Investors Forum on Aug. 29 at the Marco Polo Hotel Cebu.

Stanley Go, One Cebu Business and Sustainability Summit chairperson, said that they invited speakers like Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III, chairman and chief executive officer of ABS-CBN Corp; Professors Enrique Soriano and Daniel Barannechea of Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business; Jonathan Bernstein, director for client services of Interband; and Jacqueline Alexis Thng, chief executive officer of Lexis Branding to
speak during the event.

MCCI is also waiting the confirmation of Manuel Pangilinan, chairman of Philippine Long Distance Company.

Go said the summit will help entrepreneurs and those aspiring to become one to see business opportunities the market can offer.

“A better way to improve operations is by looking at those leading companies, benchmark them and apply their practices to our own business. This summit will be both inspiring and educational,” he said.

Go said they target 500 to 800 participants to attend the forum.

Meanwhile, the Man-daue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will host Mandaue City’s “coming-out” party during the Choose Mandaue: An Investment Forum.

According to MCCI, the event will be attended by investors from all over the country, diplomats and trade attaches from different countries as the Mandaue City Government is set to unveil its Investment Code to attract new investments.

Garces said the investment forum will also allow them to communicate to the local government the needed policies to encourage more investors to choose Mandaue.
