Lopez to talk in One Cebu business summit

ABS-CBN Corp. chairman and chief executive officer Eugenio Lopez III will be one of the resource speakers of this year’s One Cebu Business & Sustainability Summit spearheaded by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
The summit, which will have the theme “Staying Ahead of the Game,” is organized by the MCCI in celebration of the Mandaue Business Month (MBM) 2012. The summit will be held on August 9 from 8:30am until 5 p.m. at the Cebu International Convention Center.
Lopez will talk about “Creating Long Term Competitive Advantage over Your Main Competitors.” Lopez was elected chairman in 1997. He aggressively pursued ABS-CBN’s diversification into various successful ventures that include interactive media, sound recording, post-production, international cable and satellite distribution, sports programming, licensing and merchandising and digital TV.
Aside from leading ABS-CBN, he is also the director and treasurer of Lopez Holdings Corp., the flagship company of the Lopez Group. He is also the vice chairman of Bayan Telecommunications, president of Sky Vision Corp., and director of First Gen Corp.
He earned a degree in political science from Bowdoin College in 1974 in Brunswick, Maine and a masters degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School in 1980.
Other prominent personalities who will talk in the summit include Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, who will discuss “Staying Ahead of the Game: Lessons on Governance, the Cebu Experience.”
Other invited speakers include Jonathan Bernstein, executive director for Brand Strategy of Interbrand Singapore, who will talk on destination branding; Jacqueline Alexis Thng, CEO of Lexis Branding, and one of Asia’s most experienced brand strategists and consultants; Gordon Alan Joseph, president of Cebu Business Club, who will discuss “Mega Cebu: Forging Ahead through Planning and City-Region Collaboration.” (PR)
