NATIONAL Association of Independent Travel Agencies (Naitas) chairman emeritus Robert Lim Joseph has appointed former tourism director and now tourism consultant Patria Aurora Roa to spearhead the audio-video presentations (AVP) project for local tour guiding.
Roa said she already asked the Cebu Association of Tour Guides (CAT-G) to update the script on local tour guiding that will be the basis for the production of the AVPs.
“I still have to meet again with CAT-G and check on the revised tour guide script,” Roa said at the sidelines of 888 News Forum Anniversary held at the Marco Polo Hotel
Cebu.
Joseph will invest P500,000 to jumpstart the project in Cebu.
Roa said the project has the support of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez. She said the team will also seek the support of the Department of Tourism (DOT) 7.
Joseph said they will come up with a mock output that will be presented to production outfits for bidding.
The AVP will be dubbed into 20 languages.
Joseph said he will also seek the help of the various embassies for the translation. He will also coordinate with the National Historical Commission because the AVP will not only show Cebu’s beaches but its rich culture and heritage.
He is confident that as soon as they come up with the initial output of the project, this will draw support from various sectors as this will uplift the tourism marketing and promotions of Cebu.
After Cebu, the project will rolled out to other key cities.
Joseph said the project, which he hopes to be realized within the year, will also serve as a good database for students and international students taking up tourism courses.
