Parkmall celebrates 4th year

THE first pet-friendly mall in Cebu is recreating the feeling of environmental awareness and emotional bonds among shoppers, officials said.

The home atmosphere in malls has gone away in Cebu, said Parkmall general manager Neal Carlson Co during Parkmall’s 4th year anniversary press conference last week.

According to Co, Parkmall’s vision is about tradition. They want to become a destination where people can gather, interact and have fun in an eco-friendly setting.

Parkmall opened in October 2008. Its indoor bazaar, al fresco dining and go green impression separates it from most malls in the metropolis, officials said.

When it opened, Parkmall had less than 20 tenants. Now, they have over two hundred, which includes micro retailers and boutiques.

The growth of merchants provides more shopping opportunities for the people, Co said.

He said that as the first green mall in Cebu, Parkmall is practicing energy-efficient strategies such as waste segregation, skylight illumination and roof insulation.

They’ve also incorporated additional features within the vicinity such as indoor trees, calesa kiosks and park ranger security.

Parkmall is celebrating its 4th year with weekly activities this month.
