Pensioners open pension house downtown

A PENSIONER couple formally opened yesterday as a business investment an apartelle, the newest at the heart of Colon Cebu City.

Larry and Valentina Peliña, owners of financing and lending corporation Cebu Shee Na Group of Companies, diversified their ventures with the construction of Glojam Town Apartelle in Panganiban, Cebu City.

Cebu Shee Na Group of Companies is the mother company of Shee Na Lending Corp. Both offer financial assistance to pensioners in Cebu and now have branches in Toledo, Bogo, Lapu-Lapu, Tabunok, Mandaue, and Carcar.

The Peliñas have been in the business since 1998.

According to Cebu Shee Na Group of Companies general manager Cindy Empeynado, the lot where the apartelle stands was bought to put up another Shee Na office. But the Peliñas thought they could transform it into a rental property instead.

Family

Financing and lending is the lifeblood of the couple’s business and Glojam Town Apartelle is but one fruit of their labor, Empeynado said.

Glojam is derived from the initials of the Peliñas’ family members.

The apartelle is well situated to compete with the neighboring hotel and lodging houses, said Shee Na human resource consultant Cynthia Benemerito.

Glojam Town Apartelle intends to offer pension house rates for hotel-quality accommodations. The six-storey apartelle has 24 rooms ready for occupancy on three floors. Six more rooms will be opened soon.

Their amenities include 24-hour Wi-Fi access and CCTV security system, free plated breakfast, air-conditioning in the rooms, cable television, room service, a function area that can hold up to 200 persons, free parking and an in-house café and resto-bar.

As an opening promo, special rates are being offered from Oct. 18 to Nov. 18.
