TPVDC completes mat foundation

TAFT Property Venture Development Corp. (TPVDC) and its partner-contractor DDT Konstract, Inc. (DDTKI) completed over the weekend the mat foundation of the first of two towers of Horizons 101 on General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City.

The massive pouring of the final mass, which lasted for more than 30 hours from 9 pm on Friday until 5:20 am on Sunday, is reported to be the largest base for a solo building in Cebu.

Prior to Horizons 101, DDTKI also handled the single biggest mat foundation for a building in Cebu Business Park.

According to TPVDC technical and construction group head Joseph Mendoza, 5,300 cubic meters or more than 500 truckloads of concrete were discharged into the base of what is expected to be the tallest structure in the city.

“The total amount of concrete consumed from the start of the tower’s foundation plus the activity over the weekend is equivalent to three kilometers of a standard six-meter wide road or 50 basketball courts,” Mendoza said.

He expressed confidence that Horizons 101 will be the tallest building in Cebu for at least five to 10 years and that it will take some time before its record will be surpassed.

Mendoza said the 55-storey Tower 1 of 900 units is currently 85 percent sold while the 46-storey Tower 2 of 700 units has a takeup of 35 percent.

Horizons 101 is a mix of studio type units each of 22.16 square meters, one-bedroom units of 30.20 square meters, two-bedroom types of 60.30 square meters and three-bedroom units of 85.44 square meters above.
