YouTube platform to market products, services-A A +A

APART from being a site where you can share or watch videos, YouTube can be a platform to build businesses.
Trixie Canivel of Google Singapore said during the Cebuanas on the Web Summit last week that the popular videosharing website can be used to showcase products and services.
She said that with video as the most powerful advertising tool, entrepreneurs can use YouTube to educate people about what their businesses are all about without being charged as much as what TV stations do.
With one billion unique visitors and four billion views in a day, Canivel said business owners have a great venue where they can better showcase their products and services and find more potential customers.
In YouTube, businesses can also build their brand by interacting with viewers, she said.
Carnivel cited the case of Michelle Phan, a beauty guru who does makeup tutorials over YouTube. She recently launched her 250-product line of makeup branded as “em michelle phan,” in partnership with L’Oreal.
Phan started doing videos in YouTube in 2006 and how has over 4.5 million subscribers with a total view of 700 million.
Carnival encouraged participants to build a channel in the video sharing site and embed these videos in social networking sites and blogs.
Carnival also addressed the technicalities in making good videos. She shared YouTube’s newest program, the Creator Hub, to help those who want to make good videos build better content and establish fan bases.
She also advised participants that once they adopt YouTube to market their business, owners should make sure to sustain it by frequently uploading more videos.
Aside from the use of the YouTube for business, the summit also discussed the use of Google AdWords.
Kahlil Curazo of Cebu Customer Acquisition Academy said Adwords is an online marketing tool launched by Google that makes use of placed text ads in its searches.
Khristinne Araneta of Greenearth Tours and Travels said she will adopt Adwords in her business to enhance the company’s competitiveness in terms of its online presence.
For a woman entrepreneur who has not adopted online tools ever since her business started, Arlyn Garciano of Cybernet Systems is planning to make use of Google Adwords to make her business known to more potential clients.
Cybernet Systems is involved in the installation of company business servers since 2006.
Garciano confessed that as much as she wants to go online, she feels she is not adept in the use of the tools. Garciano said her husband is involved in online communities of business server installers and owners where he gets the chance to share what services they could offer. She said she focuses on administrative works.
With her participation in the summit, Garciano hopes to increase her clients.
