HARDWARE depot Build It, an affiliate of Cebu Bionic Builders of Group companies, is highlighting sustainable products and technology in its newly-opened branch in Danao City.
Cebu Bionic executive vice president for operations Bernard Vonn Sia said during the grand opening of Built It last week that they are introducing products in the northern Cebu market that are “sustainable” and “consume less energy.”
“We’re going green and we’re trying to reduce our footprint by reducing energy,” Sia said.
Sia cited the Nano coat, Big Ass fan, and Solatube, as among Build It’s lineup of energy-efficient products.
The Nano Coat, Sia said, is a clear solution applied on glass that causes a two to
three percent drop in temperature, causing rooms or establishments to lessen the use of running air conditioning units.
Aside from being energy-efficient, he said the use of nano coat also has positive health implications as it can repel 90 percent of ultraviolet rays and 80 percent of infrared rays, which are linked to cancer.
Sia said car showrooms in Cebu were the first to adopt the nano coat solution in their establishments as it prevents the discoloration of cars exposed to direct sunlight.
The Big Ass Fan are fans that are designed and engineered to move large volumes of air.
Sia said the Cebu Bionic store in Magallanes installed a Big Ass fan and they “turned off eight horsepower of aircon.”
A Solatube device, Sia said, is a piece of tube installed on the roof that magnifies the brightness of the sun and provide illumination to the interiors, lessening the use of lighting devices.
He said the products have been installed in some commercial and residential areas in the province.
Aside from selling sustainable products, Sia said it is also the first time for Cebu Bionic to adopt sustainable design in their warehouse in Danao.
Cebu Bionic-Intranet Trade International Inc. president Buck Richnold Sia said the Danao branch is designed to accommodate natural light inside. Moreover, it is also harvesting rain water for their water needs, adopting a Cebu City ordinance that requires building owners in the city to incorporate rainwater conservation.
The Build It branch in Danao is the second outlet after Mandaue. It is a two-storey hardware store with a floor area of 2,000 square meters.
The store carries 12,000 to 14,000 products, mostly architectural finishes, tiles and bathroom-related products. It houses 20 foreign brands and 30 local brands.
As an affiliate of Cebu Bionic Builders Group of Companies, Build It positions itself as a “retail store” in hardware and construction technology.
Sia said Build It is planning to open another branch within Cebu in the next two years.
