AFTER the success of its Mirage hatchback, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp unveiled in Cebu last Friday its new Mirage G4 subcompact sedan.
Mitsubishi Motors assistant vice president for operations Rene Poro said the Mirage G4 offers a more spacious legroom and headroom than the hatchback.
It also has a more silent engine with a crankshaft made of forged steel, he said, with a 4.8-meter turning radius, making it easy to maneuver.
Mirage G4 also has a dual SRS airbags and adopts an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution.
Poro said the launching of the Mirage G4 will complement the success of the hatchback.
In the past, Mitsubishi only had a 2.2 percent market share in the passenger car segment, ranking eighth among automotive companies.
After the Mirage hatchback was introduced last year, it zoomed into fourth place with a 12.5 percent market share/
The hatchback contributes 20 percent of Mitsubishi’s total sales for 2013, he said.
Poro said for the initial launch they are targeting monthly 80 units of Mirage G4 to be sold from October to December this year for their market in Central Visyas, Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindano.
In the past six years, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines reported “consecutive sales growth,” the company said in its website.
For 2012, it has recorded a total sales of 34,915 vehicles, which is seven percent better than the 2011 sales of 32, 603 vehicles.
With the introduction of Mirage G4, Poro said Mitsubishi hopes to grab a bigger market share.
Mistubishi Motor Philippines is offering a pre-order discount until Oct. 16. For P10,000, one can already get a Mirage G4 and get a P40,000 discount from its regular price.
