AFTER its successful first opening on A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City, native Filipino restaurant Hukad sa Golden Cowrie opened its second Mandaue branch in Parkmall.
Owners Kenneth and Kristine Kokseng said in an interview last Thursday that they have been eyeing a branch in Parkmall for some time, after noticing the mall’s array of good restaurants.
The couple said Hukad sa Golden Cowrie in Parkmall is the 16th branch within the Visayas-Mindanao area.
The newly opened native restaurant seats 120 and offers the same menu as that of the other Golden Cowrie branches.
The native restaurant has been in the food industry since 1982, with the Golden Cowrie in Lahug, Cebu City as its first outlet. It is known for its baked scallops, deep fried crispy pata and prawn sinigang. Every quarter, the restaurant also introduces a new dish.
Golden Cowrie was first franchised in Cagayan de Oro City in the year 2010. The native restaurant is also present in Davao, Ozamiz, Dumaguete, Bohol, Boracay and General Santos.
The franchising fee for Golden Cowrie is P1 million inclusive of training and project costs, said Kenneth.
In Cebu, there are seven branches, all company-owned. They are located in SM, Ayala, Robinson’s Cybergate, Marina Mall, Lahug and Mandaue.
The Koksengs said two branches will be opened within this year in Palawan and Butuan. Golden Cowrie is managed by the Cebu Golden Restaurant Inc.
