AN ELEVATOR company opened its office in Cebu at the Pacific Square Mall in Mabolo last Saturday. A company official said they decided to branch out into Cebu because of the province’s booming economy, particularly its construction sector.
Manuel Carlos Ilagan, president and chief executive officer of IFE Elevators Phils., described Cebu as the “next most progressive city” in the country, an area he said they have been planning to penetrate.
“Seeing robust construction here, we wanted to take part of the slice of Cebu’s requirement,” said Ilagan.
IFE Elevators Philippines Inc. offers several products, such as vertical lifts, elevator types such as passenger and freight, hospital bed, scenic or panoramic, dumbwaiters and home lifts. They are the exclusive distributor of IFE Elevator Co. Ltd., a company based in Guangdong, China that specializes in design, manufacture, installation and maintenance and repair of elevators and escalators.
Apart from their exclusive distribution in the country, the company also handles their sales, marketing, installation, maintenance and after-sales service.
Ilagan said they are now negotiating with developers. He said they initially plan to tap mid-rise developers and eventually work with those doing high-rise construction.
IFE Elevator Co. Ltd. executive manager Jason Bai said he is impressed with the stellar growth of the Philippines and that expanding operations in Cebu signifies the company’s long-term commitment to doing business in the Philippines.
“Strong economic growth has been posted in Southeast Asia and the Philippines is one of those attractive markets to do business in,” said bai. He said the Philippine market accounts for five percent of the firm’s total overseas project. “This is one of the fastest growing markets we have.”
Ilagan partnered with IFE Elevator Co. Ltd last year. Since the brand’s entry to the Philippines, Ilagan said sales have been doing well and he intends to make the brand popular here just like in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the United Arab of Emirates, Iraq, Bahrain, Iran, Nigeria, Congo, Rwanda, Venezuela, Chile, Bolivia and Australia.
