LANDBANK is conducting a series of meetings for local government units across the country as part of its commitment to contribute to the development of local economies by financing infrastructure projects, livelihood programs and other income generating projects that will help boost local employment and economic progress.
The series kicked off with a forum held last July in Casino Español in Cebu City attended by more than 400 local officials from the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
This was followed by similar forums in Puerto Princesa, Palawan; Baguio City; Clark, Pampanga; and Tuguegarao City, bringing together more than 2,000 local chief executives, treasurers and other officials of the cities and municipalities from Region I and Western Cordillera Administrative Region, Region II and Eastern CAR, Region III and the province of Palawan.
“We recognize that promoting the rural economy and sustainable development as a whole is a tall order even for organizations like Landbank. This is why we turn to our development partners like LGUs, which are at the forefront of delivering basic services in the rural areas,” said LandBank president and CEO Gilda Pico.
The forum provides updates on regulations, processes, requirements and policy guidelines in securing the Net Borrowing Capacity Certification of LGUs, requirements in securing the Monetary Board opinion and guidelines on the seal of good housekeeping through resource speakers from the Department of Finance-Bureau of Local Government Finance, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Several other forums lined up in October and November are set to be held in General Santos City, Cavite-Batangas, Davao, Antipolo, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Dipolog, Butuan and Tacloban. (PR)
