A CEBU-BASED distributor of pharmaceutical and health supplement products is confident of growing its business here, banking on the province’s growing healthcare sector.
Rio Aarni Tinio, district sales manager of NutraMedix Enterprises Inc., said Cebu presents a huge growth opportunity with Cebuanos shifting to a healthier lifestyle.
“We are confident of growing here because the Cebu market is health-conscious and all these efforts of making our products available in the market is to become a part of the growing healthcare sector here,” said Tinio during the company’s store opening in Osmeña Blvd.
Tinio added they also see growing market awareness on the use of natural herbal medicines. She said preventive medicine is slowly gaining popularity. Although the supplements and natural herbal medicines are now competing against the chemical-based drugs, Tinio said, this is one growing market that they cannot ignore.
NutraMedix is the exclusive distributor of Arthrite 150mg soft gel capsule, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved traditional medicine for joint pains. The firm is partly owned by Rotex Pharma Philippines, a Filipino-owned pharmaceutical company that produces pharmaceuticals to the supplement and traditional medicine markets.
Arthrite is said to be the “only anti-arthritic natural medication with 14 highly standardized herbal extracts to deliver optimum benefits.” Tinio said this is a drug with herbal extract contents for joint pains that help improve joint mobility by reducing pain, inflammation and stiffness.
The firm said Rotex Phils. “uses a matrix of synergistic herbal extracts in their optimum therapeutic dosage for purity, potency and consistency.”
Since their operations began last year, NutraMedix has already tapped top medical professionals for Arthrite prescription.
They have also made the product available over the counter in various pharmacies and drugstores here. Tinio said 60 percent of the sales come from doctors’ prescriptions.
The consumer health and herbal supplement market in the Philippines is growing by more than 10 percent. The country’s pharmaceutical sector is observed to grow between three to four percent annually. The government has been inviting US firms to invest on the country’s pharmaceutical industry, a report said.
