Mobile browsing to sustain growth: Globe

GLOBE Telecom said the upswing in mobile browsing amid a steady increase in the use of data-capable devices will sustain the company’s revenue growth momentum and “solidify its position as a formidable challenger brand onto 2014.”

“In a market of sustained demand for data solutions and connectivity across different business sectors, we stand to capitalize on this growth opportunity through various products and solutions, including cloud computing,” said Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu.

To encourage growth of mobile data and content-related services, the company has partnered with seven of the most popular chat applications providers: Viber, FB Messenger, KakaoTalk, WeChat, Gmessage, Whatsapp and Line to bundle with the company’s service offerings.

According to Cu, the company sees very positive signs on browsing activity in 2014 as most subscribers want to maximize the use of their smartphones beyond call and text.

The company also partnered with Facebook to offer free access to Facebook to all of its subscribers over a three-month period as long as they have data-capable gadgets.

“These services offerings were designed to engage our subscribers to experience and get into the habit of using mobile data services and early returns on these promotions have been very encouraging.” Cu said.

Amid increased smartphone use and growing popularity of internet access via mobile devices and increasing demand for mobile Wi-Fi and faster Internet connectivity, Globe Telecom’s Tattoo recently launched service offerings with “more affordable, personalized and consumable plans with increased surfing speed.”

Most recently, the company unveiled a data plan offer for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for P1,799, which comes with unlimited data including consumable amount for calls and texts.

The company also offered the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 plus Galaxy gear bundle at Platinum Plan 5,000 over a 24-month contract period.

At the end of nine-month period to September, mobile data revenues, which accounted for 56 percent of the company’s total mobile service revenues, reached P30 billion, a 17 percent increase from P25.8 billion a year earlier. (PR)
