PUBLICLY-listed Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCHC) is banking on the mobile market to grow its client base with the introduction of the hotel chain’s mobile application for iOs and Andriod-powered gadgets.
“In order for our hotels to survive the cutthroat competition, we need to diversify and place ourselves out there. Coming up with a mobile app is one of the strategies that will help us reach out to the growing mobile travel market,” said Maria Socorro Cotelo, corporate planning director of WCCHC in a media briefing yesterday.
The hotel chain simultaneously launched the mobile app in all of its existing hotels located in Manila, Cebu, Davao and its G-Hotel, a 50-room boutique hotel.
She said they are the first Filipino hospitality chain to introduce this innovation into their services. The app was developed by Cebuano developers.
“We want to be part of this next big thing especially that the travel market is going mobile. Our intention is stay as close to the mobile market place as possible, especially that even our local market favors online transactions,” said Cotelo.
She said the local online market is strong, followed by Southeast Asian markets and the United States. Most of them are leisure and business travelers booking online.
She said guests can now book online, access maps and directions of the hotel and its landmarks, access the hotel’s restaurants and menus and notification alerts of the hotels’ latest promotions and offers.
“The app will send push notification messages to all the users every time promotions and events are uploaded, similar to Facebook and Twitter,” said Glenn Gucor, WCCHC’s group information technology manager.
The app can be downloaded for free at the App Store and Google Play.
They also want to make the app a venue for guest feedback, capitalizing on online tools to beef up the hotel’s feedback program.
Aside from launching the hotel’s mobile app, Cotelo said they will also modify the hotel’s website and include an online payment system.
