CEBU IT Park, the flagship project of Ayala-led Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp. (CPVDC), was conferred a special citation by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the recent 2014 Grand Chamber Awards.

Cebu IT Park was given recognition for its significant role in developing and providing a platform for the emergence of the information and communication technology (ICT) and business process management (BPM) industry in Cebu, the company said in a press statement.

The citation, given last June 28, was given “in recognition of the exemplary contribution to Cebu – sustaining an ambiance of a thriving business community in general and an emerging ICT and BPM industry in particular, while creating jobs, increasing business and investment opportunities and finally contributing to the vibrant economic growth and development of Cebu.”

The awardees of the 2014 Grand Chamber Awards were chosen by a panel of judges led by Department of Trade and Industry 7 Director Asteria Caberte.

The company was cited for its “exemplary contribution” in increasing Cebu’s business and investment opportunities. CPVDC pledged to accelerate its developments to further grow Cebu’s economy.

The company said that over, 100,000 square meters (sq.m) of gross floor area would be added to the park upon completion of two office buildings, four residential buildings and a mixed-use building within the next two years. This will add to the IT Park’s existing buildings, which total almost 250,000 sq.m.

Because of the booming IT industry, CPVDC said growth in terms of building space has increased significantly, with build-up in the last five years almost doubling that what had been put up in the first ten years of the IT Park.

It now houses over a hundred IT companies and related services, comprising over 70 percent of Cebu’s BPM industry. The Cebu IT Park is the first Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza)-accredited IT zone outside of Luzon.

On top of its existing developments, the company said the redevelopment of the two-hectare superblock of the IT Park would increase its leasing portfolio as well as that of its parent company, Cebu Holdings Inc.

This project will include a regional mall, office buildings and a hotel. These, the company said, will further enhance Cebu IT Park’s integrated components and strengthen its place as a prime investment and the preferred BPM destination.
