TO boost its position as a venue for garden weddings and other special occasions, homegrown Montebello Villa Hotel formally unveiled last week The Glass House, its newest event venue.

The one-storey glass tent is a perfect venue for intimate celebrations, said Luis Martin Alvarez, the hotel’s general manager and president of Alvarez-Borromeo Development Corp. It aims to realize the clients’ requirements of holding events in the garden but enjoying the comfort of an indoor setting.

The Glass House can accommodate 150 persons. The hotel described the facility as a pavilion with an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape and situated beside a pond and Montebello’s famous landmark, the Bridge of Love in sight.

The Glass House forms part of the company’s renovation plan, which they unveiled last year.

Alvarez-Borromeo Development Corp. is investing about P100 million to upgrade the hotel to match today’s growing competition in the hospitality industry.

The renovation plan will be spread over a period of three years. It will cover the upgrade of more rooms, function rooms, and setting up of new structures to boost the hotel’s charm as the only garden hotel in the city.

Montebello Villa Hotel is a 45-year-old hotel. Its last new major construction was done in 1979. In 2014, the hotel embarked on major renovations by upgrading its premier wing, which covers 43 superior rooms and two suites.

Besides The Glass House, sales and marketing head Concon Kintanar said they will be introducing changes to the hotel, one of which is the mini-gym to boost the hotel’s health and wellness offering. It will also unveil additional rooms under the Heritage Wing, a game room and a small swimming pool by the end of the month.

An in-house spa is also slated for opening next year.

Alvarez earlier said the renovation plans reflect the company’s confidence in the province’s tourism sector, which remains vibrant and resilient. (KOC)
