THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) partnered with an online job search website to manage the group’s career website.
In a statement furnished to Sun.Star Cebu, JobsDB Philippines Inc. managing director Jayjay Viray said its partnership with CCCI is aimed at helping the chamber’s members streamline their recruitment processes.

“Locally-based businesses also tackle HR problems. The HR—which is responsible for interviews, reference checks, placement and selection of applicants—also handles administrative support functions so they might not have the resources to tackle all the HR issues,” Viray said.
Through the partnership, JobsDB.com will manage the organization’s career website by providing the link to a summary of available positions in CCCI’s member-businesses.
CCCI vice president for membership Ed Llimtingco also said that the chamber recognizes the help of JobsDB to the organization.
“Since our mission is to spearhead the growth of Cebu-based businesses to global competitiveness, we start by ensuring we can find competitive individuals that can contribute to the advancement of our member-companies,” he said.
Mismatch
But Viray said that most employers in Cebu have also expressed concerns on the occurrence of a job mismatch in the province. She said that there are “vast employment opportunities” in the province but several applicants lack the skills that the companies require.
“Employers need applicants who can contribute to the success and growth of their company amid the crisis,” Viray said.
Viray also said that a single job vacancy can have as much as 200 applicants, but the human resource personnel may still have difficulties finding qualified people from among them.
But being “selective” with applicants is a natural company strategy to “acquire a workforce that is most beneficial” to the company. “Companies set standards that applicants must meet to ensure the quality of work an employee will deliver,” she added.
Limtingco said the chamber decided to partner with JobsDB so that its member-companies’ human resources teams can concentrate on retaining their workforce by providing training.
Based on the needs of CCCI member-companies, most of the vacancies are for careers related to services, administration, accounting, sales and technical support.
The CCCI also said its partnership with JobsDB is a way to help address unemployment in Cebu.
