Cebuanos put up a good race in the 2010 Magnolia National Superkart Series held recently in Carmona Racing Circuit, Cavite.

“Our drivers have been practicing hard for the opener and this is a great result for us, something that will boost their confidence,” said Lord Seno, who heads the Kartzone team.

Mistake-free

Cebuano rookie karter Joseph Rojo, a new member of the Cebu Racing Group, a team fielded by Kartzone to participate in the National karting scene ruled the Formula SL 100cc Novice Division, qualified 4th in the grid.

Rojo drove a mistake-free final heat to grab top honors in a very competitive category out of 21 karters while teammate JT Gullas encountered tuning problems and did not finish the race.

In the Formula SL 100cc Expert Division, fellow Cebuano karter Tonyo Carcel finished 3rd in a neck-to-neck race between Manila’s top karters- Indy Villalon and Castellar twins.

Inch-shy

Teammate Stefan Reroma finished an inch shy of a podium spot in 6th.

International Champ Jette Calderon, the lone Cebuano entry in the ROK 125cc Class, finished 3rd in the Junior Category after qualifying 5th in a field of 17 top karters, while Stefano Marcelo, who once trained in Kartzone, finished in convincing fashion, lapping a second faster than 2nd placer Juha Turralba.

The 2nd leg will be on March 21 in Batangas Racing Circuit.

The opening leg of the Kartzone Superkart series will be on March 27 at the Kartzone Racing.
