Costanilla: ‘Aninong Samaran’ will grind as film

Sam Costanilla
Spotlight

MOVIE. Allan Jayme Rabaya’s Aninong Samaran (Wounded Shadow) will definitely be made into a full-length movie by German film producer Gene Semf of St. John Entertainment. In fact, last week, I attended the second meeting of the members of the cast where some of them were also auditioned for their respective roles. Gene told us that the book version of Aninong Samaran is now on its finishing touches with Nick Ampatin as author.

The book version will be released first before filming of the movie version starts. Gene also said some of the scenes will be shot in Ireland but majority of the sequences will be filmed in Cebu. Allan himself will direct the movie.

As to the budget, Semf didn’t mention any amount but hinted that the members of the cast will be substantially paid.

CAST. The members of the cast that will play important roles in Aninong Samaran include Imelda Mirafuentes, businessman Johnny Lim, Roy Empleo, Sim Romarate, Chet Ortiz, Ester Alferez, Susan Solante, Candie Borces Pros, Amy Filomeno, Eugene Ramirez and a few others whose names I forgot to jot down. Allan also offered me a role in this project—that of a corrupt mayor—which I readily accepted as a challenging task to tackle. The film will be in Cebuano/Visayan but will have English subtitles for viewers in other countries to appreciate and understand.

Yes, this local film will also be for international screening.

We cast members can’t wait for the cameras to start rolling.

KIDS. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, all roads lead to the Cebu International Convention Center where the third Cebu Children’s Popular Music Festival will have its grand finals.

The project is a brainchild of Gov. Gwen Garcia for purposes of encouraging talented teeners in the towns and cities of Cebu to hone their songwriting and singing skills.

The Wednesday event that starts at 4 p.m. is open to the public, so through this column, let me invite the general public to watch this presentation. Adults are encouraged to bring their children as this free show, titled Halad sa Kabataan, is for them.

GUEST. You think veteran broadcaster Max, a.k.a. Daloydoy, Andrino can’t sing well? He can. Many people think Max is only good at cracking jokes during his radio program over dyKC.

Of course, he can carry a tune, being a composer also. His Salimuang sa Gugma became an instant hit in the 80s. At any rate, may I invite you to listen to Max as he sings your favorite love songs on my weekly television show Sam Enchanted Evening over CCTN 47 or Skycable 56, from 10 to 11 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday.
