“This would be awareness in action through planting and growing trees, efficient use of energy and water, and car pooling practices, among others,” said Archival, also chairman of the Cebu City Council Committee on Environment.
In his speech during the Third Regional Retailers Conference in Cebu last week, Archival advised business owners to use efficient lighting products and appliances, use rainwater and water from air conditioners, and to fix leaking faucets to help reduce overhead costs and save the earth’s resources.
He also suggested that companies require their personnel to turn off unused lights and air conditioners an hour before the closing time.
Archival pointed out that the responsibility of environmental protection run across all sectors in the society that must sustain its present needs without compromising the future of the next generation.
Other “green” strategies he presented to business owners include the use of renewable technology, such as solar and wind power, and adopting green building concepts.
