DTCC barangay program resumes

AFTER the successful hosting of an international tournament, the Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) resumes its grassroots development program with the second season of the Dancesport and Hip Hop Competition Circuit this afternoon at the Barangay Mambaling Sports Complex/Gym.

The circuit, which is part of DTCC’s outreach program, will run every Saturday afternoons until April 17 next year. It will be capped by a culminating activity on May 29.
Eighteen barangays will play host to the 80 other barangays participating in the event.

The host barangays are the following: Inayawan, Poblacion Pardo, Basak San Nicolas, Mambaling, Quiot, Punta Princesa, Tisa, Suba, Guadalupe and Buhisan from the South and Pahina Central, Cogon Ramos, Tejero, Hipodromo, Mabolo, Apas, Capitol Site, Talamban from the North.

In between the weekly Saturday competitions, participants will continue to practice with their dance teachers in preparation for various competitions.

The program provides year-round free dancesport training in barangay levels for potential athletes. This includes weekly village competitions to bring the experience right at the doorsteps of the grassroots participants.

The program also aims to promote awareness and better understanding of dancesport and in the future, provide a potential source of income for the underprivileged as future athletes, adjudicators, performers and professional dance teachers.

Entry forms are available at the Emotions Training Studio at the Cebu City Sports Center. Inquire at 415-58-44. (PR)
