KRIS Aquino has filed a temporary protection order (TPO) against her former husband, basketball star James Yap.

In her statement Kris accused James of “overstepping his boundaries and of attempting to seduce her while visiting her home, and of inflicting psychological harm on their son Bimby,” PEP reported.

In a report from Rina Jimenez David of Philippine Daily Inquirer, it was said Kris filed her petition at the Makati City.

A TPO is effective for 30 days from its issuance, although at the end of the hearing, a permanent protection order will be sought by the aggrieved party, PEP reported.

A protection order, according to Republic Act 9262 o Anti-Violence Against Women And Their Children Act, “is an order to protect victims of domestic violence from further harassment or harm by their spouses or partners.”

In her petition, Kris sought the court to order James “to stay away from her, her five-year-old son Bimby and any household member, keep a distance of at least 100 meters, and to stay away from her residence, school, place of employment or any place frequented by her and her son.”

A detail in the petition revealed that when James visited the condominium of Kris last December to fetch Bimby—visiting rights of the couple—James allegedly barged into the room of Kris and displayed “overt sexual advances” that the TV host/actress vehemently refused, PEP reported.

Because of this refusal, James made “mean and malicious statements.”

The petition added that James acted “as if he was still entitled to his matrimonial rights,” although they are no longer married and forced himself upon his former wife in front of their son, according to PEP.

Bimby was ruffled by the scene he saw, which was followed by a heated argument. He told his father to get out of the room and to stop hurting his mom.

Soon after that incident, it was said that Bimby had started showing “signs of being highly upset and agitated” whenever he is with his dad or whenever he hears the voice of his dad on the phone, PEP reported.

The petition said: The physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and moral harm and injury foisted (on that day) was occasioned by the unfettered access of respondent Yap on the household and persons of the petitioners.”

It can be recalled that last December, during the presscon of her film Sisterekas, Kris said: “Ayaw kong magpaka-plastic sa inyo, e. It’s easy to tell we’re good and all...we’re not.” (Sun.Star Cebu)
