FILM and Media Arts International Academy had a special screening of Emmy Award winning filmmaker Dana Nachman’s documentary film “Batkid Begins” last Oct. 4 at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Campus.

Nachman directed the documentary film about Miles Scott, an American child and cancer survivor who wished to be a Batkid, the sidekick of eponymous comic book superhero Batman. The film was released by Warner Bros Pictures last June 26 and bagged three awards and a total of five nominations at the Ashland Independent Film Festival 2015, Cleveland International Film Festival 2015, Dallas International Film Festival 2015, Golden Trailer Awards 2016 and Heartland Film 2016.

It wasn’t an easy documentary to film though.

“Actually I had a hard time at first, especially (with) the timeline of Mile’s life. (There were) a lot of video footage and time frame to go through but I was really happy that I made it in nine months,” said Nachman.

Nachman also wrote, directed and produced “Witch Hunt,” “The Human Experiment” and “Love Hate Love,” which also bagged numerous awards from different festivals. (Patricia June S. Meramonte, CIT-U Intern)
