SMALL and medium enterprises (SME) account for at least half of the Cebu economy. SMEs provide more jobs than the larger companies and hire more than 70 percent of the country’s workforce.

This year’s Sun.Star Economic Forum will focus on opportunities for SMEs in community-based tourism and information technology-enabled industries.

The speakers of the event include University of San Carlos economics professor Fernando Fajardo and Cesar Tolentino.

He is the executive director of the Cebu Business Club (CBC).

Tolentino, on the other hand, will talk about the IT industry.

Tolentino has been an IT consultant and research analyst for more than 15 years.

The Sun.Star Economic Forum will be held on July 22 at the Parklane Hotel. It is being held to serve as venue for discussion of opportunities and issues on Cebu’s economic growth and will be attended by key figures in government and the private sector.
