February is Civil Registration Month
Tuesday, February 7, 2012
FEBRUARY of every year has been observed as the Civil Registration Month pursuant to Proclamation 682 signed by then president Corazon C. Aquino.
This year’s theme “Tamang Rehistro, Pananagutan ng Bawat Pilipino,” serves as a reminder to all citizens to register vital events correctly and accurately to avoid committing clerical errors.
Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.
Erroneous civil registration documents will further delay the availment of primary social services and privileges like education, health and insurance benefits.
The National Statistics Offices (NSO) in southern Leyte launched the Civil Registration Month by giving out free issuances of civil registry documents to the “early bird” clients at NSO Maasin City last Feb. 1.
In line with the month-long celebration, the Southern Leyte Municipal Civil Registrars Association (SOLEMCRA) will initiate various activities like mass weddings, information campaign, mobile registration, and a civil registration quiz.
The highlight of the celebration will be the holding of the regional convention of the Eastern Visayas Federation of Provincial Association of Civil Registrars in Cebu City on Feb. 28 and 29.
For more information about the celebration, one may call (053) 570-8440, or email nsosoley@yahoo.com.
