GSIS lifts policy for beneficiaries to visit field offices to renew status
Tuesday, February 7, 2012
THE Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) reminded its pensioners that they need not visit the GSIS offices anymore for their annual renewal of active status (Aras) to ensure continued receipt of their monthly pension.
As part of the initiatives to provide greater convenience to the pensioners (old age or survivorship), the current board has removed this requirement since May 2011.

Along with the removal of Aras, the new GSIS leadership renewed its engagement with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) to give the pensioners the option to choose an alternative servicing bank for their GSIS transactions.
The GSIS encouraged the pensioners to consider getting LBP’s services, if they find this more convenient.
The GSIS, in a press release, announced it has also deployed nearly 500 GWAPS (GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System) kiosks across the country, where pensioners can check their records and apply for pension loans.
The GSIS assured that under the new administration, the interest and welfare of the old-age pensioners are a paramount consideration, in line with its vision to provide the most responsive service.
