Festival for dogs set on Feb. 26

A CELEBRATION of love is not for humans alone. Valentine’s Day is not only showing one’s affection to loved ones, but also to the “man’s best friend.”
On Feb. 26, a Valentine Festival for dogs and dog lovers will be held at Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The activity, dubbed as “Bark for Love,” will kick off with the holding of a dog parade at 6 a.m., and will be followed by an opening ceremony.
The registration and the free clinic will start at 8 a.m. The free clinic includes rabies vaccination, deworming and vitamin supplementation, neutering, and treatment. A blessing of pets will be held at 9 a.m.
The event is a project of D’ Dog House Café and Grooming Salon, in cooperation with the Lapu-Lapu City Government.
There will be a presentation of the participating dog clubs, dog grooming, lectures, games and awarding of prizes from 2 to 9 p.m.
Contest
A live band will also entertainment the guests. Interested participants can join the mini-float contest during the morning dog parade. Vehicles allowed to join the mini-float are limited to multi-cabs and trisikads.
