TWO friends, Bernadette A. Parco and Cris Evert Lato, started calling on friends to gather used bags for 200 poor school children last month.
The “Bag-to-School” project came about with the sight of a boy who was on his way to school carrying his books and notebooks that are tied together with a piece of straw.
The project would benefit members of the Catechism class of the Missionaries of the Poor, San Pio Village, Barangay Dumlog in Talisay City and the Calidngan Parish in Carcar City.
Friends donated old and usable bags as well as new bags.
Employees of Metro Cebu Water District donated 40 bags, while the human resources department staff of Sun.Star Cebu gave 200 pencils with erasers and sharpeners while an anonymous donor gave 200 notebooks.
So far, there are 60 bags collected for the project.
Those interested to donate bags can bring these to Presents and Such store along Gorordo Ave., Cebu City.
For inquiries, one may call 417-1963.
