THE municipality of Sogod, Cebu and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Central Visayas recently signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of a project under the Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat Program (Salintubig).
Sogod Mayor Lissa Marie Durano and (DILG) 7 Director Ananias Villacorta signed the agreement, with DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo as witness.
The Salintubig, which is a tripartite program of the DILG, Department of Health, and the National Anti-Poverty Commission, is a grant given to local government units awarded with the DILG’s Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH).
Durano said the success of the project will benefit the constituents, especially the farmers.
She said a number of residents in town are dependent on farming, and the improvement of the water system will be of great help to them.
For being an SGH recipient, Sogod also received a Local Government Support Fund grant of P700,000, which was allocated for the town’s road project.
