The UV Chorale was founded in 1999 by the university’s executive vice president, Dr. Jose R. Gullas, to grant scholarship opportunities for musically talented high school and college students.
In 2007, the choir successfully competed in its first-ever international tilt, winning silver and bronze medals, and got the rank as “International Very Good” at the prestigious Busan Choral Festival and Competition.
The group was also named gold champions in all the categories that they have joined at the Tomohon International Choir Competition in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The chorale had joined in the first Cultural Center of the Philippines National Choir Competition, emerging as one of the big winners by grabbing three gold certificates in all the categories.
They were also chosen as the only Filipino performing group at the World Youth Day in 2008 at Sydney, Australia, and in 2011, the group topped the 2011 MBC Paskong Pinoy national choral competition at the Aliw Theater.
