OVER 200 children from Sitio Oppra in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City enjoyed an afternoon of fun, games and delicious food during the charity event spearheaded by the University of San Carlos–South Grade School (USC-SGS) Batch ’88 last July 21.
The outreach program was one of the activities lined up for 24th graduation anniversary celebration of the batch.
Atty. Myrfi Gonzalez, USC-SGS ‘88 batch coordinator, said the original plan was for the batch to hold a reunion. However, one of the batchmates insisted on also doing an outreach activity.
“Angelo Villanueva, one of our batchmates, who is now based in the US, suggested we do an outreach activity, too, as a way of giving back to the community, especially now that most of the members of the batch have become successful in different fields. We chose Oppra because one of our batchmates has been doing charity work there for quite some time,” she said.
The members of the batch who joined the activity had fun playing ate and kuya to the children-beneficiaries, who were also given school supplies after the event.
The batch, Atty. Gonzalez said, plans to make the outreach activity an annual event.
“We will tap batchmates who are barangay officials to determine our future beneficiaries,” she added.
