IN CELEBRATION of their “New Generation Month,” the Rotary Club of Mactan (RCM) recently held an outreach program that benefited the residents of Dumanjug town, Cebu.
With this year’s theme, “Peace through Service,” RCM, in partnership with the civilian volunteers and military partners from the 560th Air Base Wing of the Philippine Air Force, Naval Forces Central, Philippine Navy, Cebu Alumni Association in Seattle and the Rotaract Mactan Community Base, was able to serve more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
Since the program was dedicated for the new generation, the various activities were made for children. These included oral hygiene lecture, particularly on proper tooth brushing techniques, and distribution of dental kits.
There was also a kid’s corner that featured a story-telling session, lecture and drawing contest that emphasized the “love of mother earth.” Prizes were awarded to top three best illustrations.
The children also lined up for surprises of toys and books.
The rotaractors had pre-identified a total of 120 beneficiaries who later received gifts of new pairs of slippers.
Other services rendered were free medical checkup, ECG, tooth extraction, hair cut, as well as the distribution of meals. There were 50 senior citizens that got new pair of eyeglasses.
The organizer thanked the town police, officials of Barangays Tangil and Ylaya, and the Catholic Women’s Leaque for their cooperation.
