THE Metro Pacific Investment Corp. (MPIC) and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) Group treated underprivileged children from various communities to an early Christmas party in celebration of the International Volunteers’ Day last Dec. 5.
The activity, dubbed as Paskong Kapatid, provided the various organizations under MPIC and PLDT Group the opportunity to render volunteer work, a practice that is supported and encouraged by the companies associated with business leader Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Some 200 kids from communities adopted by the various companies and around 170 employee-volunteers converged at the Meralco headquarters in Ortigas Center, Pasig for an afternoon of fun.
The kids had a full afternoon of story-telling by Batibot artists, face painting, picture-taking with Kiko Meralco, Batibot mascot and Santa Claus, and a ride and picture-taking on the train and Meralco e-jeep.
The activity was capped by a gift-giving before the kids went back home.
Paskong Kapatid was supported by MPIC subsidiaries, including Manila Electric Co., Maynilad Water Services Inc., One Meralco Foundation, Cardinal Santos and Makati Medical Center, as well as PLDT units Smart, PLDT-Smart Foundation, SPI Global and Alagang Kapatid Foundation.
