Lapu students, youth leaders join Youth Congress

Monday, August 14, 2017

YOUTH IN ACTION. Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza recognizes speakers and participants of the 1st Lapu-Lapu City Youth Congress.

MORE than 400 youth leaders, supreme student government officials and their advisers from the different schools in Lapu-Lapu City attended the first City Youth Congress last July 29.

The Lapu-Lapu City Government, in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government, held the Youth Congress to strengthen the relationship between students and barangay youth leaders.

The whole-day activity was held at the Gaisano Island Mactan Convention Center.
Mayor Paz Radaza acknowledged the role of the children and the youth in making Lapu-Lapu a better city.

Radaza said the City held the activity to recognize the youth and school leaders’ contributions to local governance and nation-building.

“As we gather here in this youth congress, I also want all of you to be branded, like what we have done to our place. That you will showcase and use your talents and skills,” the mayor said.

“I desire to see each one of you make your own names, to accomplish and reach great things. That is (the) challenge I want to give to you. I believe you can do it,” she said.

In the same event, the mayor announced that the City Government will activate the “Junior Police” in schools to ensure the safety and security of the students in every school.
