Fire hits ship Sulpicio sold to Roble

A fire gutted a ship docked inside David Villono Shipyard in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town yesterday afternoon.

Consolacion Bureau of Fire Protection officer FO2 Stephen Lada said the fire alarm was registered at 4:20 p.m. on the ship M/V Tacloban Princess
Harold Go of Sulpicio lines, in a text message to Sun.Star Cebu, stated that the ship was bought by Roble shipping last May.

Lada said the fire was declared as a second alarm and fire trucks from Liloan, Mandaue City and Eruf responded and assisted their station.

Lada said there was no report yet of the fire’s estimated damage, nor the cause and origin of the blaze, as their investigator, SFO1 Renato Lakang, was still aboard the ship some few kilometers from the shore as of press time.

The Filipino-owned shipyard is named after its owner David Villono, said Consolacion Police Station duty officer SPO1 Romulo Sasing.
