Gaisano routs Shell in Shaba

LAST season’s champion, Gaisano Capital-Saver’s Choice Batch 2005, opened the 15th Season of the Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association with a 46-33 mastery over Shell V. Rama last Sunday at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu gym in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Despite the scoreline, the reigning champions needed to work hard for three quarters before pulling away. A varied defense—from a full court trap to man-to-man—resulted in an 18-4 blitz in the final minutes for Gaisano’s first win.

Eldy Cabahug and Adrian Lao led the Gaisano Capital/Saver’s Choice scorers with 15 points each.

In the other games, Marcelino Co defeated San Remegio Beach, Club 61-44; White Gold Club dominated RDAK/Edcon Glass, 66-56; Goldberry Suites made mincemeat out of Gaisano Capital, 70-59; Japfa routed Mobelhaus, 64-45; and A+ Structures escaped with a 55-47 victory over Nature’s Spring.
