Ginebra to face Alaska in Cebu

THE Metro Cebu Uptown Jaycees (MCUJ) will host the “PBA Duwa sa Sugbo” on May 22 at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Barangay Ginebra vs. Alaska Aces game will not be just an exhibition match but will be part of the regular season of the PBA.

MCUJ present president Carlos Porras Jr., along with past presidents Domingo “Boy” Te and Chris Paro-an and Fritz Sullano, said during yesterday’s press conference that the proceeds of the game will be used to fund various community outreach programs of the organization.

“We hope that the Cebuanos will support this project because aside from the basketball entertainment, they will also help fund our developmental sports program and our summer outreach programs,” said Te.

In April 2007, MCUJ also helped bring the San Miguel Beer vs. Red Bull game to Cebu.

“Despite the lack of proper marketing the last time we brought a PBA game here, we were able to generate enough funds for our beneficiary. Now, we will again ask the people to support our project and be there on game day,” said Paro-an.

Paro-an added that aside from the game itself, they are contemplating to raffle cellular phones during the match.
