DESPITE his hectic schedule these days, sportsman Atan Guardo still finds time to indulge himself in physical fitness as he preps for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009 on Dec. 6.
It will be the third full-marathon race Guardo will be joining after Hong Kong and last month’s 1st Quezon City International Marathon, which some participants described as a “torture marathon” because of its very tough race course.

“I have already endured several tough races and I’ve learned well from my experience. I’m extremely optimistic that I would be able to finish the Singapore Marathon. I’m not really particular with my time, I just want to enjoy the view and scenic sports of the Lion City,” said Guardo, once the chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission.
“Although I’m very busy right now, I keep on training hard to keep my self in top shape and in perfect condition for an endeavor of such magnitude. As we all know, running a marathon is no joke. It is one of the most challenging sports that entail a lot of determination, physical conditioning and mental toughness.”
Guardo is expected to be joined by the solid members of his Guardo Running Team, including his brothers Jerry and Jeson and former City councilor Joel Garganera, to name a few.
The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is an international event held annually on the first Sunday of December.
It draws participants from all over the world with runners from countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, China and other European and Asian countries. (PR)
