Knowing no pain

CEBU's running bug has definitely hit a lot of Cebuanos. So much so that runners, especially the more serious ones, no longer know what it means to be sore.

Mary Joy Tabal started her Sunday with her first 21K win in the grueling Milo Marathon and ended it with a victory in the Val 2020 Naga Charter Day Run, a sundown race in Naga.

Updates on President Benigno Aquino III's presidency

Winning the Milo run under the scorching heat did not seem to bother Tabal as she capped her day with the 5K title, finishing it in just 21.41 minutes.

She did promise not to collapse again after her first 21K last year. And she didn't.

So she added mileage, running the 5K in the afternoon.

Joeyry Lee finished second, while Christy Tutor, who won the Milo 10K in the morning, took the third place diadem.

Criselda Alianes and Merlita Dunkin completed the top five.

Meanwhile, Cebu's running queen Mary Grace delos Santos topped the women's 10K in 39:10, seven minutes ahead of second placer Mereeis Ramirez.

In the men's division, Elmer Bartolo won the division ahead of Ian Bernido, while Milo's 21K winner Adonis Singson took it easy in the afternoon, settling for third.

Alvirg Busa and Robert Daang completed the top five.

In the men's 5K, Jory Ycong won the title followed by John Philip Duenas and Jordan Bacong.

Joey Lee Jr. won the boys 3K,over Jeneucel Jr. and Dann Jansen Paez. Sisters Jean, Loevely Fe and Chery Andrin topped the girls division.

Janet Montenegro won the women’s media category, while Bayani Alvarez won in the men’s side.

Meanwhile, 60-year-old runner Porferio Resabia was named the oldest runner, while six-year-old Rojan Mejia was the youngest.
